Essay Topics

To apply, please submit a 500–700 word essay on one of the following topics:

Why play matters? - How play-based learning supports cognitive, social, or emotional development in early childhood.

Designing better learning environments for young children. - What research tells us about spaces, materials, and routines that help children learn best.

Inclusive early learning. - How educators and designers can better support children with diverse learning needs.

The future of early childhood education. - Your perspective on where early learning is heading and what needs to change.

We are looking for original thinking, clarity, and practical insight, not academic jargon.

Who Can Apply

You may apply if you meet all of the following criteria:

  • Aged 18 or over
  • Enrolled in, or accepted to, a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programme
  • Studying at an accredited institution in the UK, EU, or USA

Your course relates to:
Early childhood education, Child development or psychology, Education studies, Learning sciences, Special educational needs, A closely related field

Selection Process

All applications are reviewed by the Tin yLearns team.

Essays are evaluated on:

  • Originality of thought
  • Understanding of early childhood
  • development
  • Practical relevance
  • Clarity and structure

The successful applicant will be notified by email. If the selected recipient does not respond within 7 days, another applicant may be chosen.

Use of Funds

The scholarship funds may be used for:

  • Tuition fees
  • Books and learning materials
  • Research costs
  • Living or accommodation expenses related to study

Organize Thoughtfully

We encourage students to use spelling and grammar tools. However:

  • Essays must be entirely your own work
  • Submissions are checked for plagiarism and AI-generated content
  • Applications that rely primarily on AI-generated writing will be disqualified

Privacy & Legal

  • No purchase is necessary to apply
  • The scholarship is void where prohibited by law
  • Applicant data is used solely to administer the scholarship
  • Data will not be sold or shared with third parties
  • Applicants may request deletion of their data after the award cycle concludes
